Keeping Parents Informed

We keep parents informed every single day.  We send home a printout of each student's Points and Levels sheet which describes each student's behavior in each class.  Parents can use this information to help reinforce positive behavior and to correct inappropriate behavior.  The Points and Levels sheet also lists homework for each class each day, so parents are aware of which assignments students need to complete at home.  We require that students get these sheets signed daily and return them to school the following day.

We recently put a new system into place that automatically sends e-mails to parents when their students are absent or tardy.  The e-mails go out daily between 10:00 and 11:00 a.m.  If students are present and on time, their parents are not sent a message.  We hope that by letting parents know immediately when their children miss school, we will have more students in school more often.  We also send attendance e-mails to probation officers for students who have them so that we can all work together to get students in school.

Many parents don't have e-mail.  To keep those parents informed of absences, we send attendance warning letters through the U.S. Mail.  Those letters go out when students hit their 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 10th absences.

If you're a parent of a RESA student and would like to be notified when your child is absent or tardy, send an e-mail to Rodney Sizemore.
